René Bornstein (geb. 1983 in Berlin) ist Bassist, Lehrer und Komponist.
Nach der Sudienvorbereitung in Berlin (2003-2006) studierte er in Dresden an der Carl Maria von Weber Hochschule für Musik „Jazz, Rock, Pop“(2006-2011).
Er hatte während seiner Ausbildung unter anderem Unterricht bei Tom Götze, Sigi Busch, Dirk Strakhof und Jäcki Reznicek.
Derweilen spielt er über einhundert nationale sowie internationale Konzerte mit seinen Bands im Jahr. Er gastierte außerdem z.B. bei der Staatsoperette Dresden, dem Theater Wechselbad oder wird als gefragter Sideman in Bands engagiert.
2012 gewann er mit der Band Scrootch bei dem internationalen Jazzwettbewerb in Avignon/Frankreich den ersten Platz und den Publikumspreis. Außerdem wurde die selbe Formation Preisträger(3. Platz) bei dem internationalen Jazzwettbewerb “ Goldener Krokuss“ in Jelenia Góra in Polen.
Mit der Formation TANN war er 2011 Preisträger(2. Platz) beim internationalen Jazzfestival in Burghausen.
Er arbeitete in den letzten Jahren in diversen Jazz-, Rock- und Popbands. Zudem unterrichtete an verschiedenen Institutionen als Lehrer für E- und Kontrabass, Theorie/Gehörbildung. 2011 wurde ihm die künstlerische Leitung des New Town Swing Orchesters angetragen. Die Kompositionen von René Bornstein, die sich aus allen Bereichen der zeitgenössischen Musik zusammensetzen, sind moderner Jazz. Sie sind gleichsam inspiriert von der Moderne und der Klassik. Kombiniert werden etwa Elemente des Jazz mit dem Progressivem des Rock. Auch entstehen Kompositionen für das „Scrootch- Trio“, die viel stärker in der Tradition des Jazz (Swing/Bop) stehen.
Indem René Bornstein für alle seine Bands komponiert, tragen diese stets seine eigene, charakteristische Handschrift.

After studying in Berlin (2003-2006), he studied in Dresden at the Carl Maria von Weber College of Music „Jazz, Rock, Pop“ (2006-2011).
He got lessons with Tom Götze, Sigi Busch, Dirk Strakhof and Jacki Reznicek.

In 2012 he won with the band Scrootch at the International Jazz Competition in Avignon / France the first place and the Audience Award. It was also the same formation winners (3. Place) at the International Jazz Competition „Golden Krokuss“ in Jelenia Góra in Poland.
With the formation TANN he was 2011 winners at the International Jazz Festival in Burghausen.
He worked in recent years in various jazz, rock and pop bands. In addition, taught at various institutions as a teacher for electric and double bass, theory / ear training. The compositions by René Bornstein, composed from all areas of contemporary music, are modern jazz. They are, as inspired by the modern and the classical.
